Year End Points Chases

I've had lots of younger racers and parents ask me about points and overalls for the year so I thought I would say a bit.

1) Don't worry about them!! Just keep coming to the races and doing the best you can while you have fun. Points will accumulate and like they all say- Championships are won on your worst days.

2) Being 40pts down or up right now means nothing. This is no a national series. We drop races. After a couple drops from your score and your opponents score, things have a way of getting real close real quick. Plus you NEVER know what might happen to you or your bike or your opponents at any given race.

3) Remember, 1st place pays the same at 7th place. (unless you're pro). We all do this for fun and we are all competitive. The stories and the friends you make will mean more than any trophy. The trophies are just so you can look at them and remember the battles.

One of the best races Ive had was in 2012 with Chad Echols at Riverfront, we were back and forth all year on wins and points. Whoever won that race would win the A-Vet Championship, plain and simple. I narrowly escaped with the win, but the competition between us is what sticks in my mind.

Recently, Brett and I have been racing within seconds of each other. They have been the most exciting races I've ever been involved in. Neither of us are thinking about the podium of year end points, only how can I get by him or keep him off me!
