Warpath Long Course Details

If you raced this event last year you know how much fun this course is the race. This year we will be racing in the clockwise direction opposite from last year. We could not include the split lane race start and the grass track field. This means our total mileage on the course comes down to 7.8 miles.

For almost all low spots on the long course we have laid bridges made of pallets everywhere we have low ground. Every place that deteriorated on the track last year has been re-routed. If there was a deep rut, it was re-routed. If there was a muddy section, it was re-routed. Our goal is to keep the track in excellent shape and also keep racers as dry as we can.

Will there be some muddy sections? Ummm, hello… yes there will be muddy sections. Will you get dirty? Yes, you’ll get dirty. But remember, the majority of this race-course straddles three different steep slope ridges.

Along the south grass track field some of you will remember we crossed up and over a hill and through a gate, then ran a short straight into a half acre of mud, crossed a muddy ditch and then out the other side. This time we will use the pond berm going the other direction and a bridge to cross the pond spillway. Then you’ll race on through the field and the gate, and up over the hill. For either side of that will be flagging wide, so the course can be 15 yards wide either side there. On the north grass track field we expect it will be mushy and wet. We'll have that section as wide as riders need and you will only narrow down at the bridges we've placed to cross ditches.

The middle ridge grass-track will be awesome! We changed it slightly by throwing you a curve or two before you bail off the hill.

On three different sections… well went a little lopper, chainsaw, and machete crazy and we cut in split lanes! These sections of split lanes will let you drag race with your buds as fast as you can through trees. These lanes were carefully cut to make them even. The only advantage is which rider is willing to brake later before they merge back together.

Mile marker signs are up and spaced on half-mile intervals for reporting any safety issue, or downed racers. We’ll be arrowing and hanging ribbon Wednesday and Thursday and be ready to go. It’s a pleasure to host the first race of the year and we’re as excited for you to come race.
