2021 Bear Creek

Post by Jason Harmon »

In case you haven't yet checked out the Bear Creek Race Info Page, here is the latest information regarding the race:
  • No practice on the hare scramble course on race weekend. Those wanting to trail ride or test their bike can utilize the Bear Creek Cycle Trail from Kirby Landing heading west to Daisy State Park.
  • The Corp of Engineers is adamant that there is no parking allowed along the side of the park roads. Please find an appropriate parking spot.
  • Helmets must be worn at all times by anyone on a motorcycle or ATV. Speeds must also be kept to a minimum.
  • Campsites are available and must be reserved in advance. Click here to view and reserve spots. Act quickly before they’re all gone!
  • On-site lodging available at the Kirby Landing Marina.
  • The 2020 Awards Ceremony will be held on-site on Saturday evening.
  • March 14 marks the beginning of Daylight Savings Time so remember to set those clocks forward and don’t be late!

This will be our first race to attend, I did see where they can ride their bikes from the campsites, correct? Curious about the starting line area and parking, and wondering if we should haul the side by side or not for myself (spectator only and will not be racing) . Thanks for any advice!

From the folks at ADR. For information purposes, the campsite area and the starting line are about 1/2 to 3/4 miles apart for those new to the Kirby event. It is a very easy trek for a dirtbike , SxS, 4 wheeler etc. It is basically a wide trail or forest road. There will be plenty who will take these to the starting line area to watch. There is one area right off the camping area that is narrow with a runoff culvert under the road. For the last few weekends, it is easy for any offroad vehicle, but not recommended for full size trucks, etc. We have information that the Corp of Engineers may have this improved by race day. Key word is "may". Get those helmets on and head to the starting area.
