New Year and New Changes for AHSCS

2016 ushers in a new season for the Arkansas Hare Scramble Championship Series (AHSCS) and along with it some exciting new changes. In fact there’s so many changes that we had to put together a list.

1) New $10 membership fee for Kids Classes. The new PeeWee and Kids division membership fees will off-set cost, and will prevent non-member racers from taking away points from our racers who are committed to competing for an entire season.

2) Race fee increases.  Non-member and member race fees are increasing, but wait there’s a trick.  If you do your race registration on-line the fee is the same as it was in 2015.  Take your race registration online. This will make your race weekend smoother and save time standing in line. The online race registration uses PayPal.   Weekend race registration fees increased to $40 but if you register and pay online the rate is only $35. You are still required to bring your helmet to race registration to validate your transponder.

4) Here’s another race registration detail that is changing. Sleep a little longer. Race registration on Sunday mornings will open at 8AM, with priority service for PeeWee racers first.   Then Kids course racers, and then Short course racers. Save yourself time and get extra sleep by registering online. You are still required to bring your helmet to race registration to validate your transponder.

5) We’ve changed a few class names, and restructured a couple as well to provide variety and fair competition. Here are the changes:

  • Junior Advanced formerly Short A
  • Returning for 2016 is a Women’s only class.
  • Large Wheel Junior Beginner
  • Small Wheel Junior formerly called Short C

For details download the 2016 Rulebook or take a look at the Race Classes.

6) The 2016 schedule features three brand new race venues and all are virgin courses that have never been raced on before. James King and his crew from Hot Springs are busy laying out a new course on the Hot Springs Off Road Vehicle Park, formerly known as Super Lift. The course will be on a 400-acre section of the park that has never seen motorcycles. Master promoter Shane Tacker and Zac Crowl are developing the James Ranch Hare Scramble in northeast Arkansas near Pocahontas, Arkansas. This race  will be the first race in the fall after the hot summer break. Andrew Judy will take the Series to Winter’s Wild Hog Hare Scramble near the western Arkansas border which is also a virgin track later in October.

If you have ever wondered whether the Promoters and Officers listen to racers, now you know.  They do!  Nearly all of the changes being made for your series were suggestions made by racers.    Here’s hoping your 2016 season is a blast.
