Race with Honor, Be a Role Model, Lead by Example

We need role models.
“Children have never been very good at listening to their elders, but they have never failed to imitate them.” ― James Baldwin

Following the last race the officers in partnership with the Promoter conducted a series of interviews, examined photos, and video of the race.  These investigations were based on allegations following the long course race, that happened well after the formal protest period.  The allegations were reports of cheating on the long course by cutting the course.

After sorting through the facts, we are pleased to report no finding of cheating the race course or unsportsmanlike conduct by any racer we studied.

We would like to encourage all racers to use the formal system of protest following a race.  This can be done after the results are posted.  These rules are in place, to provide fair competition.  This rule also ensures that racers, Officers and the Promoter can immediately address any concerns.

The Officers firmly believe all racers should exercise the protest process when flagrant course cutting is witnessed. Any racer lodging a protest with the Promoter and Scoring Director are kept anonymous.

We know many of our spectators are former racers, have family members who race as well, and are very knowledgeable about our rules.  Spectators can also play an important role by reporting any instance of course cutting to the Promoter.  If spectators observe course cutting they can report the bike number, bike description or rider description to the Promoter.

We encourage all racers to familiarize themselves with the Rulebook.  One of the most important principles of AHSCS is to promote sportsmanship, and citizenship in our community. We look forward to a great season of racing, and fair competition throughout the reminder of the year.  We encourage all racers to race ethically, and most importantly to have a big season full of fun.

Sincerely,

Your 2016 AHSCS Officers
